Automated Product Publishing for Fashion, Apparel & Workwear

Scale product content across brands, markets and channels — without losing creative control.

Fashion, apparel and workwear companies manage far more than attractive product images. Every collection brings together variants, sizes, colors, materials, technical attributes, certifications, prices, markets and languages.

At the same time, every catalog, lookbook, datasheet and sales document must reflect the identity of the brand. InBetween transforms structured product data into accurate, visually compelling publications for print and digital channels, while creative teams retain control over design, storytelling and brand presentation.

The industry challenge

Why product publishing becomes complex in fashion and workwear

A single product can be available in multiple colors, sizes, fits and materials. In workwear and protective clothing, additional information such as standards, certifications, protection classes and technical specifications may be required.

Product complexity

  • Sizes, colors, fits and material variants
  • Technical attributes and specifications
  • Standards, certifications and protection classes

Brands & collections

  • Several collections and product lines
  • Multiple brands with distinct visual identities
  • Seasonal assortment changes

Markets & formats

  • Country-specific prices and product ranges
  • Numerous languages and regional versions
  • Catalogs, lookbooks, datasheets and sales materials

Teams must keep detailed product information consistent across these publications while meeting collection deadlines and creating an inspiring brand experience.

Less repetition. More time for design.

From manual production to automated publishing

Publishing automation reduces repetitive work across catalogs, datasheets and sales materials.

Connected data. Reusable rules. Creative freedom.

How InBetween simplifies your publishing process

InBetween connects product data from systems such as PIM, ERP, CMS and DAM with reusable publication rules, templates and Adobe InDesign layouts. Depending on the publication and its design requirements, the workflow can be fully or partially automated.

  1. Connect existing product data

Product descriptions, variants, prices, technical attributes, translations and images are retrieved from the relevant source systems.

Your existing systems remain the sources of product information. InBetween uses this data to generate publications, reducing the need for manual transfers. Reliable output depends on complete, approved source data.

  2. Define publication rules

Rules determine which products and content appear in each publication and how they are organized. They can control:

    • Product selection, sorting and grouping
    • Variant tables and technical specifications
    • Market-specific assortments, prices and currencies
    • Language versions
    • Brand-specific content and page structures

These rules can be reused for future editions, reducing repetitive configuration work.

  3. Automate repetitive layout work

Structured content such as product grids, variant tables, specifications, indexes and price information can be placed automatically.

When source data changes, the configured workflow can update or regenerate the relevant content without manually rebuilding every page and language version.

  4. Preserve creative control

Designers continue working with Adobe InDesign, defining typography, image concepts, editorial sections and page design. InBetween handles structured and repetitive content, while creative teams shape the visual experience.

For multi-brand companies, shared publishing processes can be combined with separate templates and layout rules, allowing each brand to retain its own design language.

  5. Publish for different markets and channels

    Fashion & workwear catalogs
    Seasonal lookbooks
    Product & technical datasheets
    Price lists
    Sales flyers
    Customized partner materials

The same structured product data can support all these publications for print and digital use, with content adapted for different languages, assortments, customer groups and regional requirements.

The underlying product data can also serve online stores and marketplaces, helping maintain consistent information across sales channels. Delivery to these platforms depends on the connected e-commerce and syndication systems and their available interfaces.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about publishing for fashion, apparel & workwear

Practical answers about collection updates, product variants, brand design, international editions and getting started with publishing automation.

How can we handle last-minute collection changes without reworking every catalog?

A new color, an updated price or a change to the seasonal assortment can affect several publications at once. InBetween uses connected product data and reusable publishing rules to update or regenerate the relevant content. Depending on the configured workflow, this reduces repeated corrections across catalogs, price lists and language editions. Updated content should still pass your established review and approval process.

Can InBetween turn complex size, color and fit combinations into clear product tables?

Yes. Structured variant data can be used to generate size and color matrices, product tables and technical specifications according to predefined rules. For apparel and workwear collections, this helps teams present extensive product ranges consistently without manually assembling every table. The available combinations and attributes must be maintained correctly in the source data.

Can our designers keep working in Adobe InDesign and preserve each brand’s individual style?

Yes. Designers can continue defining typography, imagery, editorial pages and layouts in Adobe InDesign, while InBetween handles structured product content and repetitive layout tasks. Separate templates and rules can support different brands within a shared publishing process. Image-led lookbooks can use partial automation, while more standardized publications can use a higher level of automation.

How can we produce different catalogs for each country without starting from scratch?

Reusable templates and rules can combine the relevant language, currency, prices and assortment for each market. This allows teams to create regional editions from a shared data foundation while retaining brand consistency. The required translations, market-specific product selections and commercial information need to be available in the connected source systems.

How can we keep workwear specifications and certification information consistent across publications?

InBetween can place approved technical attributes, certification icons and related information from connected source systems into predefined layouts. This reduces manual copying and supports consistent updates across datasheets and catalogs. Your product and compliance teams remain responsible for validating the information and determining which standards and certifications apply to each product and market.

Can distributors create their own branded catalogs and sales flyers?

Yes, with a configured self-service publishing workflow. Distributors can select products and create localized sales materials using approved templates and connected product data. This gives partners more independence while allowing the central team to define the available layouts, content and customization options. Portwest’s Publisher is an example of this approach.

Which publication should we automate first, and what do we need to get started?

A useful starting point is a publication with frequent updates, repeated layouts or many versions—for example, workwear datasheets, seasonal price lists or multilingual product catalogs. You need structured product data, suitable images, an agreed layout and clear publication rules. InBetween can use existing PIM, ERP, CMS, DAM or other structured sources. A focused pilot can help assess data readiness, design requirements and the appropriate level of automation.
